Ideal by Eric Sparks

She once told me, that I write in the ideal,
which means I try to make an imperfect world perfect.
She said it like a crime, like I was on trial,
accused of turning the beast back into a beauty.
But I find it, just a little bit comforting,
there are things in this world that are worth
the effort of trying to see the good.

And don't get me wrong, I value the truth,
and that doesn't subtract from my point.

He once told me, I watch basketball shallow,
perhaps even biased,
and see foul calls only when I want to.
And I think that he's probably right
and there's not much that I can say.
I just like the Lakers.
